Designed and made in France, the Safe-on stirrup iron from Flex-on offers the rider incredible cushioning, support and security when riding on the flat or over fences. Manufactured using environmentally sourced polyamide materials, Safe-on stirrups feature an outer arm or branch that will give-way or release in the case of a fall. Simple yet effective, this release mechanism prevents the rider from being hung up in the case of a fall. Once released, the stirrup arm can be re-secured by tightening a single screw. Designed for optimum rider comfort and safety, the Safe-on stirrup features Flex-on's dual shock-absorbing system, ergonomic design, grippy stirrup tread and wide base of support. A flexible internal steel frame ensures long term strength and durability.

Flex-on Safety Stirrup

"I bought these stirrups in May 2023 from Visions. I wanted a safety stirrup that was silver in colour to be able to wear in the jumper and hunter rings and I liked how the Flex-on's released from the bottom in the event of a fall and was one fully connected piece without a gap in the top like my free jumps have. I enjoyed these stirrups as the grip is excellent and I like how they felt under my boots. One negative, is that I did find them to be quite heavy in comparison to say my free jumps, but other than that I had no issues with the stirrups and they were subject to normal wear and tear as I ride roughly 4 times a week. After using them for about 6 months, I had my first fall with these stirrups on my young horse when she decided to bronc. The fall was not bad as I basically bailed off to the side and landed on my feet. The right stirrup did it's thing and opened from the bottom to release my foot, but I found the safety arm in the dirt as the arm on the stirrup came completely off as it broke off from the top of the stirrup as well. I am glad the safety stirrup functioned as it should and there was no chance of my foot getting caught at all, but for such s well made and expensive stirrups, I did not expect the safety arm to break completely off in such a "non dramatic fall". As the side piece is completely broken off, I now cannot use the stirrups. I looked at Flex-on's website and they state that "In case of extreme fall, the arm can break at the top : this is not a fault, the primary goal being the release of the foot to ensure your safety." While I am glad that the stirrup functioned as it should, I would not classify my fall as 'extreme' and excepted the product to hold up. None the less, the stirrup functioned as it should and Flex-on sells replacement arms for their safety stirrups for customization purposes, so I will order a set of replacement arms, at a cost of about 45$CAD. I am somewhat disappointed that these broke so easily considering the nature of the fall that I had, combined with the price of these stirrups, but again I am thankful they did their job and released my foot. It is just somewhat disappointing to have to spend more money on them to make them usable again for such a 'minor fall', but overall I like these stirrups very much, and acknowledge the safety stirrup functioned as it should."
